Disclaimer: Boring Video of me trying to fix an Acer A500 tablet.
You will need to copy an update.zip file to your micro sd card.
1) Please make sure the sd card is compatible
2) Please make sure the sd card is formatted to fat32
3) Please copy update.zip file for the correct android version. So if you are running ICS, then you need to do factory reset with an ICS rom.
4) Here is a location where you might find stock rom's and rename them as update.zip

Good luck. This process did not work for me. I first tried factory resetting using the Power + Volume Up + switching lock button on and off. This did nothing.
The final step is to factory reset from a PC.
The first link I provided above mentions doing this... but it is sort of a high level type of task... probably way above a regular dude like me.
