This my new most favorite thing in my collection - a fully restored (by me) and working fully original soviet fluorescent street light SKZL-3x40. Fully working, with an original ballast, equipped with three NOS 1990 Pila F40T12 680 Cool White fluorescent tubes. This fixture is only drawing 150 watts from mains (ballast loses included) but it produces as much light as a 250 watt mercury vapor lamp. It was a mystery for me why were these fixtures replaced as soon as it was available with HID models, but now I understand that these fixtures were very high maintenance, The tubes I imagine had to be replaced once every year and the cost of manufacturing such a beats were also pretty high. So eventually they were phased out. I am very happy that I have this fixture in my collection, fully working and fully restored.
