Today marks the one-month anniversary of my post-barn reality. Objectively, it's not a significant amount of time, but subjectively, so much has happened so quickly that one month can feel like it happened years ago and yesterday simultaneously.
Today, I'd like to share an intimate talk that I gave at Naropa University on January 31st. The audience, consisting of students and therapists, created a secure container that enabled me to extract a raw and authentic 40-minute monologue retelling my story about the fire, my past and current relationship with trauma, and many of the new insights this experience has revealed.
The talk was followed by a question and answer session where we went deeper and discussed the power of vulnerability, the fear of asking for help, the impact of community, and I also opened up about my art process, techniques, and strategies for healing trauma and moving forward.
