WALKS IN DORSET at LANGTON HERRING (THE DOUBLY THANKFUL VILLAGE) , EAST FLEET & CHESIL BEACH (4K)

In this episode of my series “ Walks in Dorset”, I explore around the villages of Langton Herring & East Fleet located to the North West of Weymouth. Once again I am accompanied by my Whippet, Logan.

I start my 4.5 mile circular walk with a wander through Langton Herring – the only “Doubly Thankful” village in Dorset (I explain the meaning of this in the video!). I check out the old animal pound, the Elm Tree Inn and the church before heading South towards Chesil Beach.

Upon reaching the Fleet – a narrow tidal lagoon cut off from the sea by Chesil Beach – I head East along the coast. I pass by Moonfleet Manor Hotel and head for the tiny village of East Fleet.

There are the remains of the old church at East Fleet to explore before visiting the “new” church which is about 540 yards inland.

My route then takes me back past the two lodges (that were part of the old Fleet House estate) and through two camp sites before going through a magical woodland before arriving back at my starting point.

My final destination is The Elm Tree Inn at Langton Herring which has a number of interesting tales to learn about!
