Best wishes to you all on the occasion of Dhanvantari Jayanti and the Ayurveda day.
The practice to observe Ayurveda Day, which falls on the auspicious day of Dhanwantri Jayanti, was started by the Union Ministry in 2016. This year we are observing it today, 13th November 2020. However, this time, we, the ayurvedic fraternity, are having more role and responsibility towards humanity and society. We all know that the covid 19 pandemic is still rampant in society, and every day it is claiming lives by hundreds. Hence The potential role of Ayurveda in the management of COVID 19 is the central theme of this year's Ayurveda Day
The Objective of Ayurveda Day is to focus on the strengths of Ayurveda and its unique treatment principles, to work towards reducing the burden of disease and related mortality by utilizing the potential of Ayurveda, and to contribute towards the broader goal of taming the present-day pandemic and promote Ayurvedic principles of healing in society both physical and psychological. This 5th national Ayurveda Day is more an occasion of re-dedication to the profession and the society than festivities or celebrations.
As we all know the celebrated saying prevention is better than cure, and as of now, vaccines for COVID-19 are in the experimental phase; the only choice left with us is to adopt better preventive measures and boost our immunity. It is where Ayurveda plays its part. Ayurveda, the Indian tradition of healing, is not just a medical system but a manifestation of our symbiotic relationship with nature. In Ayurveda, prevention of disease and promotion of health is both given due consideration. Enhancing the body's natural defense system (immunity) plays an essential role in maintaining optimum health and keeping this COVID 19 out of the bay.
