How to make a watercolor vintage floral paper bookmark with beads - Tutorial Part 1.

Today we are going to start making a vintage botanical hand painted bookmark with a beaded end. First, we will design the shape of the bookmark with the help of ruler and pencil. Then, we will make a rough sketch of composition elements to decide on their position. We will give this bookmark a floral design reminiscent of vintage botanical illustrations. This design features pomegranate fruits, flowers, and leaves. Last, we will use tracing paper to transfer the design onto watercolor paper and prepare the paper for painting.

In Part 2 of this tutorial, we will be painting this bookmark with watercolor. In Part 3, we will be making a decorative beaded end with golden color Japanese glass beads.

📜List of materials used for the first part of this art project (not sponsored):
~ Watercolor paper (Cold-pressed 300 gsm cotton paper is used. It is either Canson Heritage or Fabriano Artistico)
~ Small eraser (e.g., Tombow Mono Zero eraser pen)
~ Ruler
~ Tracing paper
~ HB and/or B+ (B2, B4 etc.) graphite pencil
~ Tape (masking tape/ washi tape/ paper tape- an easily removable tape which wouldn't damage paper surface much)
~ Kneadable eraser (optional)

01:10 - Designing composition & sketching floral elements
14:17 - Overall look of the rough design sketch
14:31 - Inking the pencil sketch
24:03 - Using tracing paper & tracing the sketch
30:53 - Transferring the sketch onto watercolor paper
40:21 - Finalizing the transferred design, cleaning it up, preparing paper for coloring
