So in this weeks episode its time to crack the engine casings open and have a look into how healthy or un healthy the heart of this beast it.

so first things first I need to build an engine stand so im not chasing the engine around the table all episode, so instead of building on from scratch i decided to repurpose the stand i built for rebuilding my Yamaha RS100 engine many moons ago. Once built the engine was mounted and then disassembly could begin.

Im not really sure what to describe next as the process is fairly self explanatory, take some bolts out, lift the part off then repeat till you have a bare engine lol.

what i did find out from the tear down is that the side casing is scrap which im devastated about, so another one is going to have to be sourced or a later casing modified to fit. the internals of the gearbox were very rusty due to the coolant leaking into the engine because of the corroded casing, but apart from that everything else seem good... worn but good. so it should just be a case of a simple rebuild and not major engineering so thats nice.

Next time I'll be making all the parts look as good as new again so dont miss that.
