17's Jenny Huh speaks with Assemblymember Dr. Jasmeet Bains on her campaign for re-election to the 35th District Assembly seat.
During the interview, Bains emphasized she's a doctor, not a politician.
"Nobody that looked like me was in the legislature," Bains said. "I'm the first South Asian woman, I'm the first Sikh American in the Legislature of California history."
Bains is now known as the only Democrat to vote against Gov. Gavin Newsom's bill to prevent price gouging by oil companies.
