In this very long video, I detail my story regarding getting residency in Paraguay while living in China!
It was hairy to do, but you had exhilarating at the same time. I started the process in 2013, and finalized the process in 2014. I went back one more time in 2015 only to pull some money out of my Paraguay bank account. 
Paraguay is only one of two landlocked countries in South America, and is kind of a sleepy backwater of a country. If you ever get a chance to visit, I would encourage you to do so, just know that you may not enjoy it’s “boringness”
