A very short, bright fugue—uncomplicated and educational, yet still showing Wilhelm Friedemann’s distinct style. Toward the end of the one and only episode, at 0:45, we hear an exact copy of the tremendously beautiful episodes from the last fugue of the first book of the Well-Tempered Clavier (B minor, BWV 869). I don’t know whether the father borrowed from the son or the son from the father. It seems unlikely to be a coincidence, although it is a simple three-part sequence that could easily have arisen independently in this style.
