How and why the Trojan war started

You've probably heard of the Trojan war. Of the epic battle between the Trojans and the Greeks, the latter of whom ultimately win the 10-year-war thanks to the cunning use of a massive wooden horse. But why did this war take place at all? Why did Paris abduct Helen? Why did the Greek gods take sides? Is it historically accurate to depict centaurs playing saxophones during ancient Greek wedding?
