A nearly full descent of the Rhône River through Valais, Switzerland and southeastern France in summer 2017. The Rhône forms the deepest canyon in Europe on its course through the Swiss Alps. Although it passes through mostly populated areas, there were plenty of places to camp and enjoy an almost wilderness experience. Also some great side hikes to castles and small Swiss villages. Trip took place in 2017. Upper Rhône 151.4 km (94.1 mi), Lake Geneva 66 km (41 mi), Lower Rhône 575 km (357 mi).
