In ancient times, what did people do with their trash or rubbish? The answer to this question can be variable, depending on the particular cultural group and time period. In every case, though, some form of waste disposal was necessary.
This topic tends to be overlooked in most fictional portrayals of the past and even in many non-fictional or scientific reports. The complete details may not be necessary, but at least an awareness of waste disposal can go a long way toward depicting an ancient site or society accurately and convincingly, in both fictional and non-fictional work.
