Canyoneering Eye of the Needle Canyon, Zion Area, Utah

DISCLAIMER/ PLEASE READ: This canyon can only be descended (legally) by use of a guide service (we used Red Desert Adventure). There are two guide services that offer this trip, Red Desert Adventure and Zion Adventure Company. This canyon is on private property, the entrance and exit (Via Ferrata) are on private property.

Finally got an opportunity to have a run through the Eye of the Needle Canyon and it was worth it, quite a different experience with swift water. One can't just roll up and head down this particular canyon, you have to have a guide. Two canyon guide companies provide this service, Red Desert Adventure and Zion Adventure Company.

About the canyon, seven rappels with the fifth rappel being the Eye of the Needle. Swift water, just enough flow (at this time) to make it interesting. We wore dry suits and still froze our butts off in a section known aptly as the 'Icebox'. A thermal layer under the dry suit would behoove you. The canyon has some pretty fun down climbs and ends in a short but cool slot. What more can I say here, the video is where the meat is.
