Jingangbei Ancient Village is built on the southern slope of Jinyun Mountain, along the Jialing River. It was first established during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, and has a history of over 300 years. The name "Jingangbei" comes from the giant "Jingang" inscription on a Tang Dynasty rock in Jinyun Mountain, and the "Jingangbei" (Jingang Embankment) extending into the river. With the prosperity of the coal industry in Jinyun Mountain, this place was once a bustling coal transportation hub, teeming with merchants and people. Later, with the changing times and population outflow, the ancient village gradually declined. It wasn't until 2018 that the local government requisitioned houses for protective restoration, and in 2022, it reopened to the public as a historical and cultural district.

Today, Jingangbei is both a commercially revitalized "tourist attraction" and has somewhat lost its original, authentic atmosphere—the choice between preservation and change is quite contradictory. But if you avoid holidays, crowds, and noise, it still retains a quiet charm along the Jialing River: perfect for a leisurely stroll, observation, and slow breathing.
