This is a discussion on some of my techniques and thoughts about using the file jig. See Gough Customs for a excellent tutorial on how to make and use this jig. Here I've just added my input on things I consider and how I proceed when creating the bevel. The only thing I need to correct is the fact that the ink remaining on the blade indicates LOW spots not high spots. Here is another 101 level discussion about creating a bevel with a file jig for anyone who is interested.
