PSX Longplay [201] Ridge Racer Hi-Spec Demo

Pal 50 fps version of the game. This demo came packaged with ridge Racer 4 and mainly shows what ridge Racer might have looked like if the developers had the knowledge of low level ps1 development as the start. It is interesting to play and is far more than a demo that the name suggests.

I open the video with the background information on how the demo came to exist and then show the original game.

I complete the Galaga loader to unlock the extra galaga cars in Ridge Racer Turbo.

Ridge racer turbo uses a 512 full height interlaced screen mode. In motion it looks ok, and the interlace artefacts are mostly hidden on a crt screen. I cant use a traditional deinterlacer to help clean it up as the display is updated every frame (not using 2 half frames).

I complete all 4 time trials and 4 race duals to unlock the final 2 cars which I show at the end. (Car #0 - White angel and Car #13 Racing)

00:03:25 - Dual in the original Ridge Racer

00:08:20 - Ridge Racer Turbo. Time Attack Short, Time trial Short, Time Attack Long, Time Trial Long. With this mode complete, I can now go after the special cars.

00:31:57 - Ridge Racer Turbo. Time Trial Short Extra, Time Attack Short Extra.

00:41:40 - Time Trial Long Extra. I beat and unlock White Angel Car #0 here and go onto beat Time Attack Long Extra with it.

00:54:10 - I go back to Time Trial Long to dual against Racing Car #13.

00:59:10 - One last go on Time Trial Short just to show Car #13 being used.

01:04:00 - I close out this longplay by having a flick through the Namco Catalogue. -
