One of my best memories was growing up surrounded by guitar-driven music.
My dad loved the guitar and although he never played, the family record player had several albums by The Ventures, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Hollies and others.
His love of guitar sound would lead him to Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, Boston and ZZ Top... and that all transferred to me.
If you have a retro, 1950's inspired Gretsch guitar, you kind of have to travel down that guitar memory lane. And I am happy to oblige with the 1959 guitar classic, "Sleep Walk" by Santo and Johnny.
This hypnotic and lush tune takes full advantage of the Gretsch's Bigsby vibrato and is expanded in sweeping reverb.
A Stray Cat is known to play an absolute killer version of this tune too but tonight's jam is just a simple version with a slight nod or two to mister Brian Setzer.
Gear used: G5420T Electromatic Hollow Body, Yamaha THR30 amp running direct into Logic Pro.
