Beautiful tourist spot! An Ancient Hakka Town in Gankeng Shenzhen

I rate the place a solid 8/10! It brings back the history of the area plus its diverse culture (Hakka) China 🇨🇳


How to get there:
Take metro (Line 10) to Gankeng Station and use Exit B to exit.
There ways that goes straight to the town gate, 2 yuan on holidays or weekend or
it takes ten minutes to walk. Or you can take an electric Tuk Tuk! Only a 5 minute ride just outside Gankeng exit B

There are many people on weekend but here many good spots to tke photos. There are more than 100 hundreds restaurants, food stands, souvenir stands insides. There are also a few hotels inside.

GanKeng Ancient Town is located in GanKeng Community, Buji Subdistrict, Longgang District. Gan Keng Village is a village with a long history. As early as 350 years ago, Hakka people settled here. Now, with the overall planning of Peking University Research Institute, it has been built into an ancient village featuring Hakka culture and integrating farming experience and the characteristics of a water town. In the 2014 Cultural Fair, it was also the main venue, showcasing Hakka culture in all aspects.
The scenic area is mainly divided into two parts: Gan Keng Ancient Town and the Ecological Park. In Gan Keng Ancient Town, there are ancient buildings, blockhouses, shops and restaurants converted from residential buildings, and stilt houses with distinctive features by the lake. Worth seeing are the Zhuangyuan Mansion with a history of more than 200 years, as well as the Nanxiang Building with carved beams and painted pillars, which is very delicate.
The Ecological Park is planted with various pollution-free melons, fruits and vegetables, and also raises many poultry. Tourists can not only enjoy the original ecological pastoral scenery, but also pick them by hand, which is very fun.
Eating Hakka cuisine and local snacks is also a major highlight of the scenic spot. Salt-baked chicken and Hakka盆菜 (Poon Choi) are representatives of Hakka cuisine. They are made with fresh ingredients and are more delicious. Be sure to try them.
