𝗢𝗖𝗘𝗔𝗡𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗧 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘: Santa Monica Police, Paramedics Respond to Unrest at Muscle Beach Restrooms

SANTA MONICA, CA — Sunday, May 25, 2025 — Santa Monica Police officers and firefighters responded to a mental health-related incident at the Muscle Beach restrooms, following reports of a woman yelling and banging on bathroom doors for an extended period.

According to reports, the woman, believed to be experiencing homelessness, became increasingly agitated when approached by responding officers. Additional units were called in for support, and Santa Monica Fire Department paramedics were summoned to the scene.

Emergency personnel were able to safely subdue the individual without incident. She was placed in handcuffs for her own safety and transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. Authorities confirmed the woman was not arrested.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges first responders face when addressing behavioral health issues in public spaces.
