Scene Painting for the Stage.
In this video Peter Bloedel walks you through a theatre scene painting technique called scumbling. Using this method, weathered wood boards can be quickly mimicked to create scenic elements like: wooden fences, ship cladding, old house siding, barn wood, floors, etc.
The scumbling demonstrated in this video is a linear scumble, which simply means that the paint will be mixed wet on the painted surface in a linear pattern.
Spattering and dry-brush dragging will also be touched on in this demonstration.
This is a quick and easy way to create a faux weathered wood look for a theatre production or other interior applications.
