Lionel Legacy ALCO S-2 Diesel Switcher: Staten Island Rapid Transit 821 | O Scale Model Trains [4K]

Getting in touch with where this channel began, we are proud to present a model railroading video! This Lionel locomotive is newest addition to my collection in over six years. Featured in the video is a Lionel Legacy ALCO S-2 Switcher, lettered for the Staten Island Rapid Transit, a short commuter line that shuttles passengers across the forgotten borough of NYC. This locomotive was released in the 2023 Volume II Catalog, has a minimum curve of O-31, and comes with all the bells and whistles of a modern legacy diesel locomotive.

The real SIRT 821 was constructed in August of 1943 by the American Locomotive Company for the US Army. Classified as an S-2, she would eventually be purchased by the Staten Island Rapid Transit for use in Maintenance of Way operations. After being replaced by more modern Brookeville Locomotives, 821 was preserved by numerous New York tourist railroads. She now wears the number 3021, painted up in a mock Delaware & Hudson paint scheme.
