One of the great things about cycling is there is an opportunity to always learn something new. My first visit to Maryland Mountain just outside of Black Hawk, CO taught me that GoPro mounts and tapered carbon bars don't play nice.
My goal for this ride was to provide a look at the COMBA created flow and downhill trails of Maryland Mount and at the same time work on my descending skills. Something even after 25 years of mountain biking I am not that great at.
The trails were a blast but unfortunately my GoPro did not want to stay in place on my carbon bars and I had failed to bring any rubber shims to help the keep the mount from slipping. I've also decided to keep my GoPro chesty mount in my bike bag. This would have been a perfect day to use it.
Anyway, enjoy what little video I did manage to capture and know that I'll be headed back to Maryland Mountain for some more flow and fun
Follow along as I train for the Leadville 100 MTB. I'm no stranger to long hard races and ride, but as a recent cancer survivor this one means a lot to me. I will be raising money for First Descents. FD is a non-profit that helps to provide life-changing outdoor adventures for young adults impacted by cancer and other serious health conditions.

Cycling has always been a passion for me, but during the pandemic while under going treatment for head and neck cancer getting out to ride on the bike became a lifeline. I also realized that I could give back by riding my bike, raising money and advocating for those who were not as fortunate as me.
