Underglaze VS Making colored slips with stain? FREE pdf with 44 recipes!

I gathered all my colored slip tests and put them in a FREE pdf for you to download. I have been making colored slip for a while now and I love working with Mason stains to make my own colors for sgraffito and other decoration techniques with slip. In this video I compare a few colors mason stain with underglazes. I have found what I pay for a Mason stain goes a lot further than what I pay for a pint of underglaze.

Now, I also love underglazes! The colors are beautiful, they are great to work with, just more expensive than making your own colored slips.

You do have to put in the time and effort of making colored slips and test them with your clay and glaze and firing temperature.

I hope this free pdf gives you a starting point from where you can further experiment with making colored slips for your ceramic pieces.
