Dare to Drink? Emerging Pollutants in Our Water 敢不敢喝？充滿新興污染物的水！

Is your drinking water clean? Is it safe to drink? The animation illustrates what emerging pollutants are, how they enter water sources and what role individuals can take in improving the quality of their drinking water. The EU funded project DEMEAU (http://demeau-fp7.eu) demonstrates innovative technologies that address emerging pollutants.

Safe and healthy drinking water is a basic human need that is increasingly jeopardized by pollution and scarcity, brought about by demographic pressures, climate change, ageing and deteriorating water infrastructure. Additionally, emerging pollutants are introduced into our water resources because of increasing use of pharmaceuticals, personal care products and industrial chemicals. In most European countries, advanced water infrastructure is in place, but with the challenges mentioned above, technological innovation is important for the drinking and waste water sector to ensure the long term sustainability and quality of water resources.
