This is my review (or at least first impression) of the new Krishna Urban Series Ink, "Peacock Blue". It's a beautifully vivid blue ink with a wonderful peacock themed bottle, but the ink is especially interesting because it is primarily a dye ink, but 2% of its color comes from pigments. This is supposed to make it more vibrant and give it some shading properties, and I suppose that it does... it's certainly a vibrant blue ink. (I'd recommend looking at the color in the photographs on my site; I'm better at color management with still photos.)
Because the pigment level is so low, it should be perfectly safe for all fountain pens (in fact, most modern pigment inks are pretty safe for them, even when the color is 100% pigmented).
So, here in the video I show off the bottle, the color of the ink, how it compares to a few similar inks, and I give a brief writing sample. Further details on my site, linked above.
=== MUSIC ===
"Arabian Dance" from the Nutcracker by P.I. Tchaikovsky.
Incidentally, I chose this piece because here in Seattle for the past few decades, the Pacific Northwest Ballet company's production of the Nutcracker has been a unique version with set design by Maurice Sendak, in which the standard "Arabian" dance was replaced with a Peacock Dance.
