1973 marks the year that Plymouth and Dodge made major changes to the front suspension in their B-bodies. They went from a traditional K-frame (engine cradle) to what Chrysler called a full floating system. Basically, this means you can remove the entire engine, transmission and front suspension by removing 6-bolts. I, however, am using a more tradition method of drivetrain removal. Why?... I am glad you asked. When I am finished removing this engine/transmission, I need to roll the empty shell back to its resting place. This would be very difficult without a front suspension. However, if you are restoring one of these, in this video, I do a quick rundown on how to remove the full floating assembly if you so desire.
Getting a vehicle apart is usually the hardest part of a restoration. You have to deal with rust, dirt, worn, stripped, and broken hardware. Then there is the infamous hidden nuts and bolts. With this car, you could easily find yourself wrestling with torsion bars if you don't know what to look for. Since I spend a lot of my time taking off classic car parts and doing my best not to damage the parts around it, I thought I would bring you along to bring you into the world of know.
