Kayaking the Brevard Zoo and painting with lemurs at the Chase Sanctuary

I surprised Erin with an unforgettable birthday weekend in Central Florida! 🎉 She had no idea what was planned as we kicked things off with a trip to Brevard Zoo in Melbourne—home to the first zoo in the U.S. to offer kayaking alongside animals. From paddling past wildlife to exploring Expedition Africa, Wild Florida, the Rainforest Revealed, and more, this zoo delivered some truly unique hands-on experiences, including a behind-the-scenes train ride and colorful bird aviary.

After the zoo, we made our first-ever stop at Ron Jon Surf Shop, grabbed a drink at a local tavern, and celebrated Erin’s birthday with friends before ending the night with tiki drinks at one of our favorite Florida bars.

The next morning brought Erin’s main birthday surprise: a visit to the Chase Sanctuary & Wildlife Conservancy in Webster, Florida. Erin finally realized what was happening when we checked in—painting with lemurs! 🐒 We also experienced an up-close sloth and anteater encounter, creating memories we’ll cherish forever.

We wrapped up the weekend with a stop in downtown Clermont for a pint, food halls, and some local shopping before heading home.
