Mystus gulio, the Long Whiskers Catfish, is a species of catfish of the family Bagridae. The generic name is probably derived from the Latin "mystax", meaning "moustache", due to the long barbels. Primarily Mystus gulio is a brackish water fish that enters and lives in fresh water. In freshwater, adults occur mainly in larger water bodies (rivers and streams) with mud or clay substrates, and rarely found in smaller streams. Easily adapts to a wide variety of frozen and prepared food in the aquarium. May eat very small fish. Mystus gulio is commonly known as Nona Tangra. Nona Tangra fish farming is profitable because its market rate is quite high. It is very tasty fish and it has a good demand at market.
