Starting on the 27th of November and culminating in the capture of Damascus on the 8th of December and overthrow of long-time dictator Bashar Al-Assad, the new rebel offensive in Syria progressed far faster than anyone expected. The big winner, and driving force behind these developments is a group called Hay'at Tahrir Ash-Sham (HTS). But who are these fighters? And what are their links with other groups in the region?
