KANUNGU SECURITY TIGHTENS AS RDC AND DPC WARN CANDIDATES AHEAD OF PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGNS
Security authorities in Kanungu District have tightened measures ahead of the presidential campaign activities, warning political candidates against defying official directives.
During a joint security briefing, the DEPUTY Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Dr. Ahimbisibwe Gad Rugaju and the District Police Commander (DPC) Azira Grace cautioned all political aspirants to conduct their campaigns peacefully and within the law.
The authorities emphasized that no candidate will be allowed to hold processions, rallies, or gatherings beyond the permitted areas, citing the need to maintain order and prevent possible clashes between rival supporters.
Dr. Rugaju urged campaign teams to coordinate with security agencies before any residential campaign event, adding that the enforcement of electoral guidelines is meant to protect both candidates and the public.
DPC Azira Grace warned that anyone found inciting violence, spreading hate speech, or violating campaign regulations will face immediate arrest and prosecution.
The security heads appealed to all candidates to focus on issue-based campaigns that promote unity and peace as the district heads toward the next phase of the electoral process.
