Even with the help of family members survivors of sexual tend to have troubles with leaving the abuser.
They feel conflicted and like the love of the person who hurt them because of nice things the abuser had done to them.
Abuser is most of the time aware that the person they choose feels alone or doesn't have a good home life and they are using it for their advantage.

I'm not saying that what Grey did was right or Pinky reactions were not okay.

Grey is a victim of s/a as well. People who suffer the same as their close ones often react emotionally and do what they think is best for the survivor even though it might hurt them.
