Most people think teaching a donkey to lead is all about pull and release—but that approach actually creates more resistance. In this video, I’ll show you the shocking truth about why pulling doesn’t work and what to do instead.

This is Step 2 in the Leading Series—and now that your donkey understands clearing the front, we’ll begin introducing circles. You’ll see how to help your donkey follow your intention, not just the lead rope.

I’ll be working with four donkeys—Rosa, Pine, Squirrel, and Famous Shamus—to show the real-life stages of progress, from wild to domestic. You’ll learn how to:
🐴 Teach your donkey to move from your intention
🐴 Build a soft, loose connection on the lead rope
🐴 Prevent pulling, freezing, or rushing ahead
🐴 Create cooperation and trust that carries into everything you do—including riding
