Five to One was recorded sometime between January and May of 1968. This song reportedly features a drunk Jim Morrison on vocals. As he was completely off time on other takes and needed assistance just to know when to come in. Jim wrote this one on the potential the youth had over their predecessors and takes on a revolution type anthem. This song is also the very first Doors song to use the RMI Electra piano, and it would definitely not be the last. Ray’s part is incredibly simple and repetitive. It barely changes rhythm towards the end.
