This is a quick overview of the 7.5" gauge "Goose" rail truck that I'm building. It began as laser cut frame members, bonnets, truck bed crossmembers, and some spare wheels. After a couple hundred hours of work it's nearing completion so I thought I'd show you a few of the specs and features. Batteries are wired in series to produce 24V to power the electric motor. The control box senses rheostat input and modulates voltage to the motor accordingly. On descending grades, the controller runs the motor as a generator to recharge the batteries so you can run all day without needing a charge. For overnight recharging, it has a 24V battery charger with float capability. In addition, a 12V circuit provides power for lights, horn, and USB charger.
