Back in early October of 1988 a local DJ named Mark Gaddell had a contest on the radio to win tickets to see George Strait. Mark was a genius! He took little segments from different George Strait Songs to make it sound like George was singing the line I Am Coming To Peoria In October. Peoria was pieces of 3 different words from 3 different songs. Well played. I had 9 out of the 10 if I remember right. It was so neat that WAAG played on a TV Cable Channel 7. Fun commercial to see.
I was able to be the ninth caller a few days later and I still won a pair of tickets.
The other DJ is Raymond Smith from the Morning Show Raymond and Raymond. Sadly, he passed away a couple years ago.
The winners of the contest were Jean Theobald of Galesburg and David Walburn (sp.) of Monmouth.
