Your 6 p.m. Northeast Ohio weather forecast for Jan. 17, 2024: Rounds of snow are on the way for Northeast Ohio to end the workweek. The snow will come in rounds starting overnight Wednesday into Saturday.
Southwest winds tonight will produce some lake effect snow showers along the primary snowbelt shores. Snow will pick up in coverage after midnight Thursday. A band of light-to-moderate snow will develop approaching daybreak. This band could form over the lake or further onshore. If the ladder plays out, prepare for scattered impacts on the roads Thursday morning. More scattered snow showers will spread in by midday. A general 1-3 inches for most of northern Ohio by Thursday evening.
A Winter Storm Watch will go in to effect Thursday night in anticipation for more substantial snow threat. Another shot of energy will sweep in for Friday. This one looks a little more robust and we're anticipating more persistent snow of varying intensity. Current guidance suggest another 2" - 5" of snow out of this round.
