According to WHO, 354 million people globally live with a Hepatitis B or C infection. Hepatitis, an inflammation of the liver caused by a variety of infectious viruses and noninfectious agents leads to a range of health problems, some of which can be fatal.
In this episode, NSIC ECHO commemorated the 2022 Global Hepatitis Day by focusing on the disease and its effects. A Consultant Gastroenterologist, Dr. Obioma Anomneze gave insight into the causes, effects and solutions. Dr. Philip Oshun, a Consultant Virologist with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) highlighted IPC Considerations that should be made for Blood-borne viruses and HIV.
Finally, Miss Chinwendu Onyekwere of The National Hospital, Abuja, FCT Nigeria also shared improvement in IPC practices at the facility.
