We started at Whixall Marina and made our way toward the legendary Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, floating 126 feet above the valley on nothing but a narrow waterway. Along the route, we passed through hand-cranked locks, narrow tunnels, peaceful countryside, and met a mix of friendly boaters (and a few not-so-happy ones).
We cruised past ducks, sheep, cows, and more, stopped for a great meal in Ellesmere, and even attempted the Frankton Locks, only to find out they require an advance booking. Lesson learned.
This trip wasn’t fast, with the boat maxing out at around 3 mph, but it was definitely unforgettable. If you’re into canal life, UK travel, or just want to experience what it's like to float above the trees, this video is for you.
