Welcome! Come join for some motivation and accountability! Here we follow the 50/10 Pomodoro method, where we work for 50 minutes and then take a 10 minute break to chat, relax, craft and play puzzles! (we're obsessed with jumble words...)
I am a physics PhD student in my second year at the University of Auckland. I have ADHD so this stream helps to keep me accountable and focused on the tasks I need to get done, so join me for some body-doubling!
My PhD is purely theoretical and computational, so I do lots of coding. My research looks at gravitational wave physics in relation to supermassive black holes and the future Laser Interferometer Space Antenna.
I work in a shared office in my university department, and this means I will sometimes have to have silent breaks and go to meetings or to teach off camera. But this means you get to see the daily life of a PhD student as I work towards my thesis.
I did my undergraduate and masters in the UK, where I grew up, and then moved to New Zealand for my PhD. I now do purely research and don't take any classes, but I do teach some!
