This video shows the idea and process of making a very simple adapter that allows the 3-jaw chuck from a Proxxon #PD250 lathe
to be used as a simple rotary table for a Proxxon #FF230 mini milling machine.
I used inexpensive and very popular M1.5 stainless steel gears – these can be purchased at most hardware stores or popular Chinese online marketplaces.
In my project, I used 60-tooth, 20-tooth, and 15-tooth gears – this ratio always divides perfectly for the most common full-angle divisions and further
increases rotational precision.
Two clamps eliminate the rotational backlash on the gears - when rotating, I use the first clamp to press down on the brakes and with the right gear I pull it
to the correct position and then finally tighten the second clamp.
Finally, I added a circular angular scale – it was laminated to be resistant to dirt, oil, coolant, etc.
To protect the gears from milling chips, I made a protective plate from Plexiglas – I cut it using a #Snapamaker CNC module.
The model was designed in the free version of Fusion 360 - which was also used as CAM for the CNC work and to create the animations shown in this video.
