This 1959 John Deere 630 LP came to us with a great connection to our school and the city of Grand Prairie. Sonny Mitchell purchased this tractor in 1960 and used it to farm 160 acres in Grand Prairie until 1965 where it was used by the Mitchell Butane Gas Sales Inc until 1982. Years after its retirement, Jeff Seider, the son-in-law of Othen Alspaugh, who was Sonny Mitchell’s cousin, contacted Dubiski Career High School to perform a restoration on this old tractor. Jeff Seider was good friends with John Dubiski, who our school was named after. Jeff ended up selling the tractor to Paul Tyllick who funded the restoration of this 630. This tractor sat for 40 years in the weather without being used. It had a variety of wildlife that made the tractor its home. We completely disassembled every system of this tractor to bring it back to its original condition. We want to thank Paul Tyllick and Chevron TRC for the opportunity to grow not only in our knowledge but as people.
