This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Freya wants to be the Bear Grylls of writing. Find out what she learned by challenging herself to write everyday for a year, sometimes under the most unusual circumstances.
Freya is a 22 year old writer from Brisbane. Plagued by a compulsion to tell stories, last year she decided to write live for 24 hours straight at the National Young Writers Festival, which won her the 2013 Express Media Award for Most innovative new project or work by a young person. Determined to continue down the path of becoming what she calls an “extreme writer,” she is now writing a story every day for a year based on the suggestions of others (freyawrightbrough.com). So far this has led her to learn from great authors, ask strangers for secrets, set up story hunts for followers, and even carve words into seed pods.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
