I’m deeply grateful to my amazing Japanese guitarist friend, Gentaro—who also lost his mom three years ago—for playing this with me at a park in Kanagawa, right outside his home. And if you listen closely, you’ll hear the cicadas singing in the background. It was such a peaceful moment.
Mom, I hope somewhere out there you’re listening and watching, just like you always did, even through the pain in your final days.
