Thousands of rubber ducks will be dumped into the Chicago River on Wednesday afternoon.
The annual Chicago Ducky Derby, which benefits Special Olympics Illinois, got underway Wednesday morning with the Derby Festival in Pioneer Court on North Michigan Avenue. A watch party is scheduled for noon, with official splashdown at 1 p.m. That's when thousands of rubber ducks will be dump-trucked into the Chicago River to race. The festival is then scheduled to run until 2:30 p.m. The Ducky Derby will raise more than $300,000 for Special Olympics Illinois athletes.
