White-breasted Nuthatches are small songbirds with a bluish-gray back and a white face, breast, and belly. They are often seen at bird feeders, where they eat sunflower seeds, peanuts, and suet.
They are known for their ability to climb headfirst down tree trunks, which has earned them the nickname "upside-down bird".
These birds are common residents in mature deciduous forests and mixed woodlands throughout the United States, southern Canada, and central Mexico.
The White-breasted Nuthatch is a cavity nester, using existing holes in trees or abandoned woodpecker holes rather than excavating its own.
