This week's 10k training included:
An unexpected mid-run detour and a quick lesson in pre-run fueling
A progression run that tested confidence more than fitness
Early-morning solo miles and learning how much other runners can help, even unintentionally
Heat, humidity, rising heart rate, and adjusting expectations
A long run that became more about time on feet than pace or distance
Some weeks are about building fitness. Others are about learning your body, managing confidence, and staying consistent when conditions aren’t ideal.
This series documents my journey training for a 10K race, with the long-term goal of staying healthy, consistent, and improving as a runner entering my 50s.
If you’re training solo, running in the heat, or finding that confidence comes and goes as the pace increases, you’re not alone.
Thanks for following along.
