This week we talk through Exodus 24-33, Luke 19:28-21:19, Psalms 80 and 81. Chris Case and Sarah Pascual trace Exodus 24–34 and Luke 19–21. Exodus opens with Israel “signing” the covenant by blood, then moves into a big-picture tour of the tabernacle as a micro-creation: six divine speeches plus Sabbath, an east-to-west approach (bronze altar → laver → lampstand → bread of the Presence → incense altar → veil → Ark/mercy seat), priestly garments and consecration, Spirit-gifted artisans (Bezalel and Oholiab), and the Sabbath as sanctification. The narrative turns with the golden calf—an Eden-like fall—followed by Moses’ intercession (“If your presence doesn’t go with us, don’t send us”), God’s mercy, and renewed movement toward God’s dwelling with His people.
In Luke, Jesus’ triumphal entry fulfills Zechariah’s king on a donkey, yet He weeps over Jerusalem’s misplaced hopes. He clears the temple to restore a “house of prayer for all nations,” outwits traps on authority, taxes, and resurrection, warns against status-seeking leaders, commends the widow’s offering, and foretells the temple’s fall. Psalms 81 and 80 underline grace-driven obedience and Israel as God’s vineyard.
