BIOGRAPHY
Early Life:
Oladipo Adewale Omotayo was born in Ikirun, Osun State on March 10th 1942 to Raji Bolarinwa Omotayo and Ademola Omotayo (nee: Adetoro) both of blessed memory. Dipo was the first born. His father was a very successful Transporter who owned many trailers and his mother was a well-known business woman /merchant in Osogbo. She was into many businesses among which were, selling of textiles, catering and selling of provisions. She was a devout Christian who brought her children up in the way of the Lord and she also contributed greatly to the growth and work of her church The Cathedral of All Saint’s in Osogbo.
Engr.Oladipo Adewale Omotayo attended St. Saviour’s Primary school, Ikirun Osun State and after his elementary curriculum, he proceeded to Oshogbo Grammar School in Osogbo from 1958 -1962 for his Secondary school. Fresh out of secondary school, he was the first of many of his close friends to get a job. He worked at the Nigerian Railways Corporation in Ibadan. He later travelled to the U.S.S. R (now Russia) on scholarship in 1965, to study Chemical Engineering initially at the Moscow Institute of Automobile Engineering (where he learnt to read and write the Russian Language fluently) from 1965/1966 and later attended Moscow Institute of Chemical Engineering where he graduated with a B.Sc. & M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from 1966/1973.
Dipo Omotayo contributed immensely to the Nigerian Oil & Gas Industry. He joined Gulf Oil Company Nigeria Limited now Chevron Nigeria in 1974 as a Production Engineer after receiving a Masters in Science Degree in Chemical Engineering.
He worked for Chevron Nigeria Limited for 25 years which included but was not limited to, serving as the manager of Escravos base operations where he was responsible for oil drilling and production both onshore and offshore. He intermittently worked in oil and gas drilling and production operations for Chevron in Odessa Texas, New Orleans Louisiana, San Francisco & San Ramon California, and equally served on offshore platforms for Chevron in the Gulf of Mexico.
In 1991, He was appointed the Logistics Manager of Chevron Nigeria Limited. The following year He was appointed the Human Resources Manager. Dipo retired from Chevron as the Drilling Manager. He held that post for over five years and retired in 1998. He was loved by all during his time in Chevron.
After he retired from Chevron in 1998, Mr. Dipo started from scratch the 100% Nigerian owned Nosco Oil & Gas Services company without going into partnership with any foreign company. Nosco Oil & Gas is an indigenous Engineering and Oilfield Services company’s whose main objective is to offer unparalleled professional services in the area of the running of Casing and Tubing Services, Inspection Services and Supply of Technical Manpower (Nationals /Experts) services.
He also started Filco Drilling & Completions Services Limited, an indigenous Engineering and Oilfield Services company offering a full range of waste management equipment’s for solid control, cuttings containment and handling, recycling and recovery, waste water treatment, filtration and disposal, as well as engineering services for drilling waste management designs for mud tank systems and liquid plant designs.
As Chairman/CEO, He put his heart and soul into all his companies and grew them to where they are today. Past and present clients include Mobil, Chevron, Total, Shell/SPDC, Agip, Addax, Ocean Energy/Folawiyo, Elcrest, Schlumberger etc.
For his numerous contributions to the Oil & Gas Industry in Nigeria, and to the development of our economy at large, he was honoured with many awards by various organizations.
Dipo met the love of his life Alevtina “Aliona” Omotayo (nee Vasilievna) in University in Moscow, Russia and fell in love with her instantly. He said, she was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid his eyes on and he told her he was going to marry her on their first date. After they got married on the 11th of September 1971 in Moscow, Russia, their marriage was blessed with two children. Dipo is survived by his wife “Aliona” as he referred to her, a daughter & son, grandchildren and a son-in-law. He is also survived by younger brothers, cousins, nephews, nieces and relatives too many to mention as well as a community that loved and respected him a great deal.

Dipo loved life and lived it to the fullest. When in secondary school in the late 50’s, he was a member of the organizing committee.
