March 1943. The North Atlantic is a graveyard. German U-boats are sinking Allied ships faster than Britain can replace them. Royal Navy depth charges have a catastrophic 0.227% success rate — 4,847 charges deployed, only 11 U-boat kills.
Then a former coal miner notices something the Admiralty missed.
Petty Officer Thomas Brennan requests permission to modify depth charge settings three times. All three requests are denied. So he stops asking.
